The past three letters with our Guest Writer Ekeoma were a joy. In this letter, we’re shifting gears and inviting space for reflection and remembrance.
We’re in the middle of so many seasons right now: Advent, Sagittarius, finals, work & side-hustle projects, transitions, the beginning or end of relationships, and navigating through the days amidst so much heaviness. I can only imagine the complexities of feelings that you may have when thinking about the ending of this year and all that has happened in reaching this point.
Wherever we find ourselves in this matrix of life, one of the hope-filled things I glean from Advent is the assurance of being seen, comforted, and heard while “in the wait.” From our exhaustion to our deep-seated grief to wins and blessings unfathomable, both spectrums continually shape who we are in this moment.
In a recent class that also pondered about how our conflicting experiences profoundly shape and transform us, it was a warmth to have Rev. Jen Bailey share not only an excerpt from her newly released book, TO MY BELOVEDS: LETTERS ON FAITH, RACE, LOSS AND RADICAL HOPE, but three self-reflection prompts to give words to what we have already been feeling.
And I share them with you; meant for you in your time to reflect and remember — hope-filled yet present-knowing.
What is dying?
What wants to emerge?
What is already blooming beautifully in the world?
I hope that as you take time to recharge, that answers, comfort, wisdom, communal presence, and the Divine in all forms surround you and keep you in this season.
Until then and the blessings of the new year in advance,
Our next letter will be in your inbox on Wednesday, January 12, 2022.
