Hey hey hey!!
I think I’ve checked my calendar too many times to confirm that today is, in fact, January 15th! As promised from our last newsletter on October 15th, today is the relaunch date of this newsletter.
With a new name, a slightly new look, and an even more refined vision, The Conflicted Womanist (nee Curlyadventure) is glad to be back with you.
The Conflicted Womanist spurred from my background in conflict analysis and resolution (my current field of study) and womanism as the framework and approach I take to all things concerning life.
The Conflicted Womanist (the newsletter, the website, and overall brand) aims to bring the layered experiences of Black and Brown women to the forefront so they can heal and show up authentically in their everyday lives, relationships, and community.
On the topic of layered experiences, much has happened in our world since our last talk. America’s true colors have shown with even greater vibrancy, the #ENDSars movement through Nigerian Millenials took the country by surprise, Father Christmas even in the midst of the panoramic still came through and 45 got impeached…again, just to name a few. However, most of all, we all made it through by grace into the new year.
I’m not sure about you, but creating in-depth goals and resolutions for 2021 seemed somewhat daunting and a bit oblivious to the events that transpired in 2020. From grief, drastic changes to plans, and an ever-present need to take our mental health seriously, it was hard to enter 2021 as if nothing happened.
This year, I’m taking it one day at a time and keeping gratitude, peace, health, and rest as the priority for this year. Of course, there are a few things I want to accomplish in 2021 but I won’t let my need for production get in the way of my becoming.
Anyways, Mama G said it best,
So, Sis, take am easy. May 2021 be all that you desire and wish for. I’ll see you in your inbox in two weeks but in the meantime, check out below a few of my favorite links that I had to share with you.
If this newsletter resonated with you, feel free to…
With love,
Chi
